Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was over the moon as he took a sharp dig at the critics after his team’s historic first-ever ODI series win over Australia. On June 11, Bangladesh crushed Australia by 5 wickets via the DLS method in the second ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka to take an unassailable 2–0 lead in the ongoing three-match ODI series.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the first ODI by 86 runs via the DLS method to script history against Australia. After the historic ODI series win over the six-time World Cup champions, Taskin was proud of the way it happened at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Amid the celebration, ICC handed punishment to Nahid Rana after heated exchange with Josh Inglis.

Taskin Ahmed silences critics after Bangladesh's historic first-ever ODI series win over Australia

For years, Bangladesh's home wins have often been downplayed because of the slow and low pitches in Dhaka. But the ongoing Australia series changed that story completely. The Tigers defeated the Kangaroos on a proper surface where both batting and bowling had a fair chance.

Because of that, Taskin Ahmed has stressed that Bangladesh’s performance should be judged only by the quality of its cricket and skills. Aiming at the critics, the fast bowler said that Bangladesh’s first-ever ODI series win over Australia is a ‘great achievement’ and one of the proudest moments in their history because it didn’t come on a “paddy field."

Taskin Ahmed told reporters in Dhaka, as quoted by Cricbuzz: “This time no one can say anything about the wicket either. We're playing on a good wicket. It's not a paddy field, okay? We're playing on a good wicket and beating a good team. So, it's a great achievement. Alhamdulillah, it's a great feeling. It feels really good.”

Taskin Ahmed hails Bangladesh's greatest achievement

After losing three wickets early in the match, the Australian team fought back and managed to put up a competitive total of 187/8 in 42 overs. But Bangladesh bowlers kept attacking before batters sealed the match, and Taskin believed the result showed how much they had improved.

This series will always remain one of the most special memories of Taskin’s career. He added, “It's very memorable. Not just for me, but for everyone. Because this is the first time we've won a series against them."

"The comforting thing is that we've won while playing on a good wicket and by playing good cricket. Maybe they're missing three or four players, but Australia still has the ability to play good cricket on good wickets. We won by playing good cricket, and that's the most satisfying part.”

Taskin Ahmed drops massive warning to rivals

The right-arm pacer also spoke about Bangladesh's growing strength in fast bowling. He suggested that visiting teams may now think twice before preparing seaming tracks because Bangladesh's pace attack has developed enough to trouble strong opponents even in those conditions.

He believes that Bangladesh’s fast-bowling attack is now among the best and can become even stronger if the players remain fit and continue performing with confidence and consistency. Amid the ODI actions, Bangladesh announced squad for T20I and Test series against Australia.

Taskin added, “I believe we're performing at a level worthy of being in the top three. If Allah keeps everyone healthy and in rhythm, then we can do well. But perhaps teams will think twice before preparing seaming wickets. At least a little bit.”
