During a Santokie from Caribbean Cricket podcast, the future series between these two nations has been revealed. According to the latest updates, the Men in Blue brigade will tour the West Indies for a couple of matches in the Whites, three ODI matches, and 5 T20Is.
An official announcement regarding the possible series is yet to come. It is also believed that the series will be held during the July - August window next year. If the series is held ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, then it will be a preparatory series for the Indian cricket team.
India vs West Indies 5-match T20I in India is yet to be played
The West Indies cricket team is currently in India for an away multi-format series. The three-match ODI series has concluded with the Indian cricket team as the winner with a 2-1 scoreline. While India won the first two matches, the visitors got their only win in the third ODI.
From tomorrow, October 6, these two teams will be engaged in a 5-match T20I series. The T20I series will come to an end on October 17.
So far in the series, in all three ODI matches, there was a run feast as both teams secured mammoth totals in the respective innings. Because of the flat surfaces, while most of the batters enjoyed scoring runs, the ODI turned tough for the bowlers of both of the teams. In the second ODI match, which was played at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, India defeated the West Indies, chasing down a target of 406 runs.
With the bat, India skipper Shubman Gill was on top of his game, scoring a couple of centuries, including a double hundred. The other senior Indian batters, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul, also showed their class.
Team India will be the favorite to win the T20I series vs West Indies
For the West Indies cricket team, their openers, Justin Greaves and John Campbell, kicked off their campaign on a strong note, securing a hundred-plus-run total for the opening stand. Their skipper Shai Hope also got a century, alongside the in-form opener John Campbell. The injury to Justin Greaves came as a concern for the team.
India will play the T20I series under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. The Iyer-led Indian cricket team is set to face the Caribbean, shortly after winning the gold medals in the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, defeating their arch rivals Pakistan. The Men in Blue are favourites to win the T20I series as the momentum is currently with them.
