Matthew Hayden was at his hilarious best in the commentary panel during the first T20I between India and Australia. He stunned Ravi Shastri with a staggering reply while taking a jibe at Suryakumar Yadav for his poor run in ODIs.

Suryakumar Yadav activated his beast mode during the first T20I against Australia. The batter played a magnificent knock in the Vishakhapatnam and guided his team to win. The batter played shots all around the park and it didn’t look like he was out of form.

Suryakumar Yadav didn’t have a great ICC World Cup 2023 and received a lot of criticism for his performances in the tournament. The batter has often been criticised for not doing well in ODIs but it’s fair to say that there’s no one close to him when it comes to T20Is.

During the first T20I against Australia, he was taking bowlers to cleaners, and Ravi Shastri, who was commentating, said “How do you stop Suryakumar Yadav when he is in this top form.”

Replying to this, Matthew Hayden said, “Tell him it’s an ODI match.”

Even former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar couldn’t control his laugh after Matthew Hayden’s comment. He reacted to Hayden’s statement on his X account, stating it was hilarious.

“I left the luggage of captaincy in the dressing room. I try to enjoy my batting. The atmosphere was amazing, thanks to the crowd. Was great to see how the boys kept their nerves. Was great to see Rinku, the situation was tailor-made for him. He was calm and collected, calmed me down a little bit. Incredible achievement from the bowlers to restrict them to this total after the 16th over.”

Suryakumar Yadav ended with a knock of 80 runs off just 42 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 190 and also smashed 9 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. His rollicking innings helped India chase the massive target of 209 runs, which is also their highest successful T20I chase.
