That Yuvraj Singh Ball Did Change My Life: Dwayne Bravo Recalls Best Delivery Of His Career
Updated - 31 Mar 2022, 06:37 PM
Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo revealed the best ball of his international career. Bravo bowled a total of 14,482 balls across all three formats at the international stage for West Indies and snapped 363 wickets in 17 years of cricket in West Indies colors.
Bravo can bowl as a conventional seam bowler but particularly is well known for bowling in the slog overs in white-ball cricket. Bravo often made the use of slower balls to lure the batters into playing big shots and mostly got success in exchange.
Dwayne Bravo- The Master of slow balls
During a West Indies vs India ODI match in Jamaica in 2006, Bravo was left with the task of defending 10 runs in 5 balls and India’s swashbuckling player Yuvraj Singh was up against him. Yuvraj smashed two consecutive boundaries as India was just two runs shy of the victory with only one wicket in their hand. Bravo executed a slower delivery which Yuvraj attempted to flick towards the square leg but the southpaw missed it and was cleaned up on 93 as West Indies won by 1 run.

To date, Bravo regards that dismissal of Yuvraj as his life-changing moment and termed it as his favorite delivery of his storied career.
“It made the world look up and notice that I have one of the best change-up balls in business and it made my T20 career,” Bravo told Indian Express.
“I still hadn’t really thought about what ball to bowl. I am still not clear when I go to the top of my run-up. At some point, before I get to the umpire, I decide I am going to bowl that dipper. Too many, man, to choose one ball as a favorite. That Yuvraj ball did change my life,” he added.
Bravo is currently playing for four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 and is just one wicket away to become the leading wicket-taker of the cash-rich league. Bravo is leveled with former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga in the all-time highest wicket-takers list with 170 scalps.
