South African limited-overs skipper Temba Bavuma is looking to put up some excellent performances in the upcoming 2021 ICC T20 World Cup as they haven’t won any ICC trophies yet. South Africa is one of the stronger sides in cricket have struggled to cope with the pressure of the knockout stage and it is unbelievable that they haven’t entered an ICC final yet.

Also, their recent performances after the retirement of AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla haven’t been great and they still have a lot of loopholes to be filled. Their bowling looks sorted out and world-class and they will be hoping to put up some better performances in the upcoming edition of ICC T20 Worldcup 2021.

Temba Bavuma Eyes South Africa’s Maiden ICC Title

Temba Bavuma mentioned that the 2021 T20 World Cup is huge for the side considering the development of the fan base inside the nation and also to end the ICC title drought that South Africa has been going through. Bavuma added the mission has been to reach the finals of the tournament and take the title with an exciting group of cricketers.

“The 2021 ICC T20 World Cup is of vital importance to the Proteas and South Africa as a nation. Not only is the T20 format a key part of Cricket South Africa’s strategy to introduce new fans to the game of cricket, this tournament will also be the first of three opportunities for us to claim our first-ever ICC World Cup trophy,”

“The group that we are in is an exciting one and we’re looking forward to facing off with everyone in it as we go about our mission to reach the final and the ultimate championship,” Temba Bavuma told ICC.

Temba Bavuma Reveals The Preparations For The Tournament

Temba Bavuma mentioned that South Africa has got an exciting bunch of talented youngsters along with experienced hands making it a well-balanced side. He added the preparation have started last year with the ultimate goal of the championship title in mind.

“We have a really exciting team that we are building with a lot of raw talent, coupled with the experienced hands that will guide and lead the youngsters. We have spent the greater part of the year preparing for this contest and I look forward to leading our country in my first world showpiece as captain,” he added.

South Africa won their last T20I series against West Indies 3-2 and they will be hoping to continue the good form into their next series against Sri Lanka in September.
