"The Belief I Got From Playing For CSK Was Massive, First Match In Yellow Jersey Will Be Favourite" - Deepak Chahar

Indian bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar said that wearing the yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and playing under the legendary skipper, MS Dhoni, will always be one of the biggest sporting moments in his career.

Chahar, who has been out of action since March this year, said that Dhoni had immense faith in him during his debut which helped him ease the nerves and believe in himself.

“When I first played for CSK, the amount of confidence MS Dhoni gave me reflected in my performance. He’s the number one captain. If he believes in you, you have to believe in yourself.”

“The belief I got from playing for CSK was massive. That changed my career. The belief and confidence Mahi bhai gave me was the best,” Chahar told ahead of a potential Asia Cup return.

Chahar has been training at the CSK academy after recovering from a hamstring injury prior to the IPL 2022 season. It brought back fond memories for him, including the debut year when he won the trophy with the team.

“Playing the first match for CSK will be my favourite for sure. Playing in yellow under Mahi bhai… My first over, I bowled very well – I still remember it. And then winning the IPL trophy in my debut year was one of the best moments as well,” he also mentioned.

Chahar also made his debut for India in both ODIs and T20Is. He is in contention to be part of the T20 World Cup squad that will travel to Australia later this year.
