Retiring from the India National Cricket Team in December 2024 and from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025, Ravichandran Ashwin has been working as a cricket pundit. While he occasionally features with the broadcasters during the matches, he is now a regular personality on YouTube channels.
Speaking recently on an 'Ash ki Baat' YouTube video, the former cricketer shared an unheard incident. Ravichandran Ashwin said that during one of his video recordings, police were waiting at his doorstep.

In the video, Ravichandran Ashwin stated that one day, when he was recording a video, the police visited their home. As he was recording a video, he was not aware that the police were waiting for him.
Ashwin revealed that the security guard of his house called him multiple times to inform him about the police, but he did not answer. Later, Ashwin's wife called him as well. Soon after his wife's call, the former spinner realised that something serious must have happened. Then he spoke to his wife and came to know about the arrival of the police.

Police visited Ashwin's house to hand him his passport. The star cricketer submitted his passport for verification for approval of a visa. The police came to his house to return the passport.
"The security of my house called me three or four times. He doesn't make this many calls. My wife also called me. Then I cut the call and asked. She told me, 'The police are at the door.' I had given my passport for a visa, so he brought that passport back," Ashwin mentioned in a video on his YouTube channel.
As Ravichandran Ashwin is a well-known personality across the globe, he was asked in the video why he needed to go through the verification process for a visa. In reply, the retired cricketer stated that he wanted to treat himself as a normal citizen, not as someone very special.
"I want to live the life of a normal person, so I prefer normalcy," he commented further.
Ravichandran Ashwin's contribution to the India National Cricket Team
Ashwin retired from the national team as the second-leading wicket-taker for the Indian cricket team after legendary Anil Kumble. Before announcing his retirement, R Ashwin took 765 international wickets across all three formats of the game for the Men in Blue in 287 matches. Winning the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy were among his most notable achievements with the India National Cricket Team.
Ravi Ashwin started his career with India mainly as a spinner; later, as per the demands of the game, he polished his batting skills to emerge as a spin bowling all-rounder. With the bat, from the lower-middle-order position, he scored 3503 runs, including six hundreds and 14 half-centuries, in 151 Test innings for the Indian cricket team.
In the Indian Premier League, he played for multiple teams, including the Chennai Super Kings, and left his mark on a permanent basis.
