Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar condemned head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis’ decision to resign from their respective roles. It’s a big change in their system and it comes just a month away from the T20 World Cup.
Former player and commentator Ramiz Raja is all but guaranteed to take up the role of chairman for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The official election will be held on September 13 but reports have confirmed that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has already given his approval.
Following the rumors, it has now been announced that both Misbah and Waqar have announced that they’re quitting their roles. Shoaib Akhtar slammed the duo and said that they were afraid of what Ramiz would have done to them.
“I think what happened here [Waqar, Misbah’s resignations] is similar to what the Taliban did to the American forces. I think they knew that Ramiz Raja would not spare them hence they decided to leave,” Akhtar told geo tv.
“I think both of them exposed themselves by running” – Shoaib Akhtar
During the announcement, Misbah stated that the fatigue owing to constant bio-bubbles had a bearing on his decision. He revealed that Pakistan has a tough international schedule coming up and he couldn’t bear to stay away from his family. Akhtar, however, continued to lash out at the former greats.
“Whether he is a good man or a bad man. He can be the world’s fastest bowler for that matter but in the end, he will get exposed. I think both of them exposed themselves by running.“
“If the PCB wanted to sack you then you should have let them. You should have put in 100% for the World Cup and then [resigned]. But what can a coward do, except running away?” Akhtar added.
The replacements will be decided soon by the PCB. Their next assignment is a series against New Zealand at home.
