BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has delivered a huge update on Team India's return to the country from Barbados after the victory in the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Team India were scheduled to leave the island nation on Monday (July 1). However, their departure was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. Due to the alarming weather conditions, the flights were cancelled while the airport was shut. The BCCI was planning to hire a chartered flight for the team but had the closure of the airport foiled their plans.

Recent reports stated that the Indian team will be finally leaving Barbados on Tuesday night and will be landing directly in New Delhi. And the same was confirmed by Rajeev Shukla. On Tuesday, the former IPL chairman took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that the team will be leaving Barbados for Delhi on Tuesday.

He stated that the team would be landing in the national capital on Wednesday evening. Shukla also said that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is himself monitoring the entire situation.

"Thank God team India is flying back from Barbados this evening to Delhi. Will be reaching tomorrow evening . They were stuck for three days there because of massive hurricane," wrote Rajeev Shukla.

"@BCCI has made all arrangements for safe flight of players back home. BCCI secretary @JayShah himself is monitoring the whole situation," he added.

After landing in Delhi, the members of the Indian team are set to meet the Prime Minister. PM Narendra Modi had talked to the team over the phone after the final and congratulated the players and the coaches for the monumental win.

India's dominant run in the T20 World Cup:

India enjoyed a stunning run in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. They won each of the 8 games they played in the tournament. In the group stage, India beat Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA before beating Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia in the Super 8s.

In the semifinal, India thrashed defending champions England by 68 runs to qualify for the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2014. In the final, the Rohit Sharma-led side beat South Africa by 7 runs as India became the third team after West Indies and England to win the T20 World Cup twice.
