Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are seen as contenders to become the first team to reach the 300-run mark while batting first in IPL 2025. Captain Pat Cummins stated that Sunrisers Hyderabad have the intent to cross the 300-run mark this season with their aggressive approach.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 263/5 against Pune Warriors in 2013 remained unbroken for a decade. However, the record was surpassed four times in 2024, with Sunrisers achieving the feat on three occasions. The Pat Cummins-led team posted the highest total in IPL history by scoring 287/3 against RCB.

Last Year Was Quite an Amazing Season - Pat Cummins
Cummins called the previous IPL season an amazing campaign. He highlighted the packed stadiums, strong batting performances, and the bowlers' resilience. Cummins said that Sunrisers Hyderabad can replicate last season's all-round team effort.
"I think last year was quite an amazing season. We can play anywhere like last year, where the stadium was packed, the boys put on a show with the bat, and the bowlers hung in there. If we can put in a similar team performance this year, I think it's going to be a lot of fun, and we're going to go a long way in the tournament," Cummins said.
Pat Cummins is the only overseas captain in the tournament. The right-arm pacer took 18 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 31.44 last season. He was the second-highest wicket-taker for Sunrisers Hyderabad, behind T Natarajan, who took 19 scalps.
However, Cummins lacks match practice. The 31-year-old has not played a competitive game since the fifth Test against India in Sydney. He missed Australia's tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy 2025 due to paternity leave and an ankle injury.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Have Good Record Against Rajasthan Royals in Recent Matches
Sunrisers Hyderabad last played against Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024, where they secured a victory. Hyderabad advanced to the final but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.
SRH and RR have faced each other 20 times in the IPL. Hyderabad have a slight edge with 11 wins, while Rajasthan have won 9. SRH defeated RR both in the league stage and the playoffs last season.
Rajasthan Royals have appointed Riyan Parag as their new captain. Parag replaced Sanju Samson, who will play as an Impact Player in the first three matches.
