Shubman Gill was happy after winning his first international series as India's captain. After the match, he summed up his experience of playing at Harare and termed the series victory as a special one for him.

Shubman Gill emerged as the highest run-scorer of the series with 170 runs in five matches at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 125.96. He did not have a very fluent time with the bat but made sure to stay at the wicket and keep scoring runs.

His captaincy was something many people had an eye on as he could be India's upcoming captain in few years. Gill was spot-on with his leadership skills and was proactive as well. Despite losing the first game of the series, he did not allow the spirits to go down and showed character and responsibility.

Shubman Gill sums up India's series victory against Zimbabwe in one word

After the match, Gill spoke about India's series victory and claimed that he had played with or against all the players before. This made his job easier while leading the team.

“Sometimes we have to tighten up the screws which is also important (Kabhi kabhi thoda tight karney ka time hota hai to tight karna bhi zaroori hai). I have played with these players across age groups, which made my job as a captain quite easy. I scored my first international century here in Zimbabwe. Captaining here for the first time and winning the series is definitely very special for me. If I had to sum up the series in one word, I think it would be spectacular," Gill said in a video released by BCCI on X (formerly Twitter).

The 24-year-old also mentioned that the ground in Harare is special considering he scored his first international century here and also led the team to a series win on this ground. He termed the series win as 'Spectacular'.

"I scored my first international century here in Zimbabwe. Captaining here for the first time and winning a series is definitely very special for me. If I had to sum up this series in one word, it would be 'Spectacular'," Gill added.

India win the fifth T20I, clinch series 4-1

India won the final match by 42 runs to clinch the series 4-1. After being put into bat, India scored 167-6 in 20 overs. The Men in Blue lost their top three wickets quickly and were 40-3 inside the powerplay. But Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag steadied the innings with a vital partnership. Parag looked set for a big one but was dismissed for 22.

But Samson completed a well-compiled half-century. Samson scored 58 off 45 balls, which included 1 four and 4 sixes. Shivam Dube provided some late impetus with a 12-ball-26, which took India to an above-par total on a tricky pitch.

Chasing 168 to win, Zimbabwe lost two early wickets. They were never in the game and struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Dion Myers was impressive as he has been throughout the series. He scored 34 off 32 balls but was dismissed by Shivam Dube.

Bowling allrounder Faraz Akram scored some late runs down the order with a quickfire 13-ball-27 but Zimbabwe fell well short of the target. Mukesh Kumar picked up 4-22 while Shivam Dube also had a good day with the ball as he claimed 2 wickets.
