India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match has finally been over. The Men in Blue came over their arch-rivals by 61 runs on Sunday. Pakistan was bowled out for 114 runs while chasing a target of 176 runs. India extended their lead by 8-1 in the nine meetings they had against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup format.

After the game, several former Pakistan cricketers slammed the decision of Salman Ali Agha to choose to field first after winning the toss on a pitch that has been hard for chasing. While Pakistan were 78 for 6 in the 12th over, Suryakumar Yadav brought in Tilak Varma, and the latter got a wicket on the first ball.

Tilak Varma's introduction was an insult to Pakistan batters

Tilak picked the wicket of Shadab Khan, caught by Shivam Dube, making it 78 for 7. Later on, Surya also let Rinku Singh bowl one over, where he conceded nine runs. This move from Surya was seen as an insult by former Pakistan cricketers and journalists towards the Men in Green side.

In a talk show named Game On Hai, former Pakistan coach Basit Ali lashed out, criticising the players. He said, “Surya ne jo sabse jor se tamacha mara hai na, jab usne Rinku aur Tilak Varma ko bowling karayi hai (Surya has slapped hard by bowling Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh).”

“This is the value of Pakistan’s cricket. I’m not talking about Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, or Varun Chakaravarthy,” he further added.

Tilak Varma let to bowl due to conditions?

In the same manner, in another talk show named Dug Out, where former Pakistani cricketers Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Azhar Ali, and Azhar Mahmood, along with the host, agreed on the point that was made by Basit Ali on another show. “They have embarrassed us today by bowling Rinku Singh. It’s like they wanted everyone to bowl,” host Shazad Khan said.

Pakistan go on a potential knockout against Namibia
