Sai Kishore will miss the remainder of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) as he joins county cricket club Gloucestershire for the remainder of its six county games this season. The spinner shared a video from his official Instagram profile to announce his joining the county club. Sai Kishore played only five matches of this season's TNPL before leaving the franchise, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, midway through their campaign.

The absence of Sai Kishore will be a major blow for the TNPL team as he was the captain and a regular wicket-taker for the team. As he has already left the franchise, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans will have to announce their new captain soon, ahead of their next match, which will be tomorrow. Tushar Raheja is expected to lead the team in the absence of Kishore.

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans performed decently under Sai Kishore's leadership in TNPL 2026

Kishore was in form with the TNPL franchise IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, taking six wickets in five matches,s including a brace against Nellai Royal Kings. Under his leadership, Tiruppur claimed three wins and a couple of losses in their first five matches of the league this season. They started their campaign with a defeat, but bounced back immediately from the next match to confirm three back-to-back wins, then another defeat.

Without Kishore in the side, Tiruppur's bowling strength and depth will be reduced by a few margins. However, the county teams will try to utilize the recent form of the Indian spinner.

Sai Kishore is thrilled to join Gloucestershire for the County Championship

England's County Championship is nothing new for the spinner. For a brief spell, Kishore previously featured for the Surrey cricket club. In 2025, the Indian spinner played only two matches for Surrey, where he picked up 11 wickets, including a stellar 5/72 against Durham.

In the ongoing season, Gloucestershire confirmed Kishore in their squad for the final six matches of the 2026 season. As per the previous media reports, he was expected to be available for the County team from August 20 onwards.

"I've always wanted to test my skills in English conditions, and after speaking with the management, I knew this was the right fit. I'm looking forward to wearing the jersey, meeting the fans at Bristol and Cheltenham, and doing my part," he expressed after securing the Gloucestershire contract.

Sai Kishore's notable career stats

Kishore is among the most consistent cricketers in Indian domestic cricket, especially as a red-ball spinner, claiming 223 wickets in 54 first-class matches for Tamil Nadu. He played a pivotal role behind Team India's gold medal-winning squad at the 2023 Asian Games. He performed equally well in the Indian Premier League (IPL), taking 33 wickets in 28 IPL matches for the Gujarat Titans across four seasons.

Despite his heroics with the red ball in domestic cricket, he played 3 T20 Internationals for the India National Cricket Team. In those 3 matches, the spinner clinched 4 wickets with an amazing economy rate of 5.25. Kishore last played for the national side on October 7, 202,3 against Afghanistan at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
