West Indian legend Chris Gayle has lauded Team India’s monumental victory over Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The veteran batsman said that winning the MCG Test was a great comeback from Team India after their loss in the first Test.
Team India had their back against the wall coming into the Boxing Day Test. They had suffered a humiliating defeat in the previous Test. Virat Kohli & Co. were bowled out for just 36 in the second innings of the Adelaide Test and went on to lose the game by eight wickets. What made things tougher was the absence of some key players.

Skipper Virat Kohli returned home after the first Test to attend the birth of his first child. Mohammed Shami was also ruled out of the series after suffering an injury while batting in the second innings of the Adelaide Test. The likes of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma were not available for the game either for different reasons.

However, Team India proved everyone wrong by coming up with a stunning performance to win the game against all the odds. Stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane led from the very front to lead the team to a series-levelling win. India thoroughly dominated the contest and went on to win the game by eight wickets.
Speaking about the game, Chris Gayle was all praise for India’s comeback. He also said that it was a great achievement since it came in the absence of skipper Kohli. Chris Gayle also congratulate Ajinkya Rahane for his fine ton and expressed his excitement for the upcoming third Test.
“India winning the second test match is a brilliant comeback from Ajinkya Rahane and his team based on what happened in the first test, getting bowled out on just 36 so it’s a great comeback from team India,” Chris Gayle told Times Now.
To beat Australia in the Boxing Day test in Australia is a great achievement, a great comeback especially without the main captain Virat Kohli. I want to congratulate Ajinkya Rahane for his century. You did a fantastic job and a brilliant century. The third test (Sydney) will become more interesting and the viewers will be entertained,” he added.
