We spent 2 months with him and saw what we can do - Riyan Parag

Opting to bowl first in the match, Rajasthan Royals had a poor outing and they allowed Rajasthan Royals to post 209/4 on the board. Chasing the target, Vaibhav Suryavanshi (101 off 38) played a knock for the ages to help RR complete the run-chase in 15.5 overs.

Speaking after the match, Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag showered rich praise on Vaibhav Suryavanshi for taking the world-class Gujarat Titans bowling unit to the cleaners. He said:

"It was incredible. We spent 2 months with him and seen what we can do. And to do it against world-class bowlers against GT, words can't express."

We practised a lot and we implemented it today, it came off - Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag further revealed that they batted with real intent and intended to finish the matches earlier after bottling multiple run-chases in IPL 2025. He stated:

"We changed it from the last game, we were thinking how can we finish this a little earlier, bat with real intent. We practised a lot and we implemented it today, it came off."

Riyan Parag, in the end, said that he takes learnings from the Indian Premier League every single day. He said:

"You can learn every day watching the IPL. Learn how RCB do things, how Surya bhai does his stuff. A big one, we were searching for this win. It came one-sided which makes me happy. See what wicket we get next game and then decide."

How did RR perform in the previous IPL match against GT?

Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a poor outing against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 9, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where they suffered a 58-run defeat. Chasing a huge target of 218, RR struggled and eventually got all out for 159 in 19.2 overs.

Bowling first, the Rajasthan Royals got off to a good start as Jofra Archer dismissed Shubman Gill early, but they failed to capitalize on that. GT batters Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler, Shahrukh Khan, and others did a great job and troubled the RR bowling unit.

Other than Archer, Maheesh Theekshana (2), Tushar Deshpande (2), and Sandeep Sharma (1) were among the wickets for the Rajasthan Royals.

Chasing the target, the Royals had a poor start as they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana early within the first three overs. Sanju Samson tried to steady the innings with 41 off 28 balls, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

Riyan Parag (26 off 14) showed some promise before getting out, and Shimron Hetmyer top-scored with a fighting 52 off 32 deliveries. However, RR's batting collapsed under pressure and they got bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs.
