Byju’s Co-Founder Slams Media Reports Claiming Their Unpaid Dues to BCCI
Byju’s co-founder Divya Gokulnath shared a Linkedin post in which she slammed media organisations for sharing such reports without verifying the truth in the matter.
“The bizarreness of the fake news story that we have not paid our dues to the BCCI was only matched by the urgency with which ‘media’ organizations ‘reported’ it. Even in this age of post-truth and verifying-after-reporting, we expect at least the real journalists to do some basic fact checks and not get swayed by hearsay and concocted stories by vested parties,” she wrote.
“As they say, a lie travels around the world while the truth is putting its shoes on. The truth is now out with its shoes on,” Gokulnath added.
Divya Gokulnath also informed The Times of India newspaper that the old contract between Byju’s and BCCI is up for renewal and hasn’t been signed yet. The Ed-tech company has paid all the dues for the tenure. The dues unpaid are only for the matches that were played after the contract expired. Those dues can be paid only after the new contract is signed.
Some BCCI officials have also agreed to Byju’s claims and mentioned that the Edtech Giant doesn’t have any unpaid dues. The Board also confirmed that the company has paid all the past amounts to the board. Moreover, BCCI also has a bank guarantee company for any unpaid amount.
