SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head said that his opening partner Abhishek Sharma had been carrying a special note to celebrate a century since the start of the IPL 2025 season. However, Abhishek confirmed that the note was written on the morning of the game against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Abhishek stole the show with his stunning century against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, April 12. Chasing a target of 246, the left-handed batter smashed his maiden IPL century off just 40 balls. He helped the team chase down the threat with nine balls to spare.

Abhishek Sharma Rejects Travis Head’s Remark About Celebration Note
In a post-match interview after Sunrisers Hyderabad's win, Travis Head said that Abhishek had been carrying a special note in his pocket since the start of the IPL 2025 season, waiting for the right moment to reveal it.
“The note has been in the pocket of Abhishek Sharma for 6 games, glad it came out tonight,” said the Australian batter.
However, Abhishek later said the note wasn’t planned that far in advance. He said he wrote it that morning after waking up. He decided that if he performed well, he would dedicate it to the Orange Army.
“I wrote it today, itself, because I usually wake up and write something. I got a random thought that if I do something today, that would be for Orange Army. Luckily, today, I felt it was my day," Abhishek said while speaking at the post-match press conference.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head added 83 runs in the powerplay. Sharma was fortunate to receive two reprieves: a no-ball dismissal and a dropped catch by Yuzvendra Chahal. Head scored 66 runs off 37 balls before Chahal dismissed him in the 13th over.
