The International Cricket Council (ICC) have released the latest update of the ICC Test Players rankings on January 19, 2022, Wednesday which sees Australia’s Travis Head, India’s Virat Kohli, and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada gaining huge ground in the rankings.

Travis head, who was named the Player of the Series in the recently concluded Ashes 2021-22 series between Australia and England, was the biggest benefactor in the latest update of the ICC Test Player Rankings. Head on the back of a brilliant century in the fifth Ashes Test at Hobart, his second of the series, shot up seven places to be joint No.5 in the Test batting charts along with Rohit Sharma.

Former India captain Virat Kohli with his brilliant performances in India’s loss in the third Test match against South Africa in Cape Town also moved to the seventh position in the ICC Test batting rankings from the ninth spot. Kohli stepped down as the Indian Test captain after 1-2 Test series loss to South Africa, ending his India captaincy tenure which began in 2014.

New Zealand stand-in skipper Tom Latham also broke into the top ten, after his double-century against Bangladesh in Christchurch.

Kagiso Rabada Moves To Third Spot In ICC Test Bowling Rankings   

While Pat Cummins continues to reign supreme at the no.1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada moved to the 3rd spot after picking 20 wickets in three Tests against India, in the series which the hosts won 2-1.

Meanwhile, the opponents, which created history by becoming the first Asian nation to win a Test match in Centurion, saw Jasprit Bumrah reentering the top-ten ICC bowling rankings at no. 10 with his scintillating bowling performance in the Cape Town Test, gaining three spots.

Ireland all-rounder Andy McBrine, who was in sizzling form during their historic ODI series victory against West Indies was the biggest gainer in the ODI player rankings for bowling. He shot up seventeen places to break into the top ten of the bowling charts. McBrine picked up 10 wickets in the three matches, as Ireland ran away with a 2-1 series victory.
