Travis Head, Shaheen Afridi And Marnus Labuschagne Reach Career-Best Rankings In Latest ICC Test Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the latest update of the Test rankings on December 15, 2021, and it sees the Australian duo of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne, along with Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi attaining career-best rankings in the longest format.

Marnus Labuschagne’s 74 in Australia’s 9-wicket win over England in the first Ashes 2021-22 Test at the Gabba in Brisbane has lifted him two slots to a career-best second position in ICC Test batters’ rankings. His teammate and Player of the Match in the Gabba Test, Travis Head, who scored 152 galloped 6 places to get to the 10th spot in the rankings.

Australia opener David Warner (up three places to sixth) and England’s Dawid Malan (up 18 places to 77th) were the other batters to move up in the rankings after the Brisbane Test match.

Shaheen Afridi Becomes The Third Ranked Test Bowler In Latest ICC Rankings

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi moved two places up to become the no.3 ranked Test pace bowler in the world, just behind Pat Cummins, who is at the top, and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Shaheen picked three wickets in the second Test against Bangladesh which Pakistan won by an innings to pocket the series 2-0.

For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan scored 33 and 63, advancing eight places to 35th. He has also gained one slot to reach fourth place among all-rounders, overtaking Ben Stokes along with India’s Ravindra Jadeja, who is now third in the list.

Dawid Malan Is Back As Number One T20I Batter, Dethrones Babar Azam

In the latest ICC T20I players’ rankings update released by the ICC, Pakistani batter Babar Azam was dethroned as the no.1 batter in the rankings with England’s Dawid Malan going back to the top of the pack.

Shadab Khan moved into the top 10 of the T20I bowling rankings, while Pakistan’s Haider Ali has gained 86 slots to reach 98th position after scores of 68 and 31. Fast bowler Haris Rauf is up to three places to 19th.

Pakistan has won the three-match T20I series against West Indies by winning the first two matches of the series and one match in hand.
