Australia National Cricket Team batter Travis Head has achieved yet another historic achievement in his career. After another excellent season with the bat, Travis Head has been named Australia's best men's cricketer once again, making history with another Allan Border Medal.
The left-handed batter beat his close friend and teammate Alex Carey in a very close voting contest to win the prestigious Allan Border Medal. With this honour, Head has joined the elite club of Australian greats who have won the Allan Border Medal in consecutive years. Travis Head wins the Allan Border Medal for the second straight year
Travis Head has become only the fifth Australian player to win the Allan Border Medal in a row. Former Australia captain Allan Border presented the medal to Head at a special event held in Brisbane on Friday (August 7) evening.
The race for the award was very close, with wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey losing the prestigious medal to Head by just one point. The star batter got 153 votes, while Carey had 152 votes, followed by Mitchell Starc (150), Steve Smith (98) and Mitchell Marsh (86).
With the honour, Travis Head becomes the fifth cricketer to win back-to-back Allan Border medals, having won the same award last year. Before the left-handed batter, David Warner (2016 and 2017), Michael Clarke (2012 and 2013), Shane Watson (2010 and 2011) and Ricky Ponting (2006 and 2007) won back-to-back Allan Border Medals.
Additionally, Head has now joined his teammates Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon as multiple-time Allan Border Medal winners. Mitchell Starc creates history with Shane Warne Award
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was named the Shane Warne Men's Test Player of the Year. He received the award from Keith Warne, the father of late Australian spin legend Shane Warne.
Starc won the Shane Warne Men's Test Player of the Year award for the second time, nine years after winning the honour for the first time. This is now the longest gap between two wins of the Men’s Test Player of the Year award.
During the voting period, the left-arm fast bowler took 57 Test wickets at an average of 18.12. Nathan Lyon was the second with 28 wickets. Starc became the third player to win the Shane Warne Men's Test Player of the Year award after Nathan Lyon (2024) and Josh Hazlewood (2025).
Mitchell Marsh and Tim David Shine as Cricket Australia honours top performers
Mitchell Marsh won the Men's ODI Player of the Year award while Tim David was named the Men's T20I Player of the Year for his performances in the shortest format. Marsh beats teammates Josh Inglis, Nathan Ellis, Alex Carey and Travis Head to win the award.
On the other hand, David was chosen over Marsh, Nathan Ellis, Ben Dwarshuis and Josh Hazlewood for the Men's T20I Player of the Year at the event that was not broadcast on television.
Annabel Sutherland wins the Belinda Clark Medal
Australia women's all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was also honoured with the Belinda Clark Medal for her outstanding performances.
Notably, Cricket Australia did not hold its usual Australian Cricket Awards night during the 2025-26 season, so the winners received their awards separately at different events.
