English Test skipper, Joe Root, scored his 19th Test century on Sunday when he took on the Sri Lankan bowlers in the second Test of the series between England and Sri Lanka. Twitter was abuzz with a lot of applause for Root, who scored back-to-back hundreds in the Lankan nation.
In the first game of the Test series between England and Sri Lanka, Joe Root had scored a double hundred as England cruised past Sri Lanka in the opening game of the series at Galle. Now, in the second match, Root has once again silenced his critics who have often been questioning his consistency with the bat in the international circuit.
With this knock, Root has also clarified his intentions of performing well in the subcontinent as England is all set to take on India in a four-match Test series, commencing from February 05.

England are still more than 150 runs short of the first innings score put up by the hosts, Sri Lanka. Veteran Lankan all-rounder Angelo Matthews had scored a scintillating ton in the first innings of the second Test to help Sri Lanka go to a solid total of 381 runs in the first innings.
The Lankan bowlers have come down hard on the English batsmen in the second innings as no batsman other than Root and Buttler have been able to dominate the Lankan bowling in this match so far. England have managed to score 231 runs for the loss of five wickets so far in the second innings and as they look to continue their winning run, they will expect Root to play another mammoth knock.
