England pace bowler Tymal Mills reckoned that the two modern-day greats of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, are the best players to ever play in the game, especially across the white-ball formats. The pacer also named his former teammate Jasprit Bumrah for possessing a high skill set.
Tymal Mills, now 34, who is currently playing in the ETPL T20 tournament, has played a couple of Indian Premier League seasons. His brief IPL stints were with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians (MI). As he played for RCB and MI, Mills got the opportunity to watch some of the best Indian cricketing talents, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah, up close.
Tymal Mills labels Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the best in the game
During a recent online conversation, the left-arm pacer said that it was a great experience for him to play alongside Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during his days in the Indian franchise league. Tymal Mills played for RCB in 2017 and joined the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2022 season.
"Two (Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma) of the best players to have ever played the game, particularly in white-ball cricket in India. They are masters at playing in those conditions. It was a great experience to learn and to be around those guys. It came at two very different points in my career, RCB back in 2017 and then MI in 2022," he said about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during an interview with CREX.
Tymal Mills on the elegance of Jasprit Bumrah
As Mills played for the Mumbai Indians, he shared the same ground with the ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The English pacer labelled Bumrah as the best bowler across the globe and across the formats right now because of his high skill set and ability to generate express pace during his days.
"I think Bumrah stands out across formats. I was lucky enough to spend that season with him at Mumbai and get up close and see how he goes about it. He's got such a high skill level and can bowl as quick as anybody on his day as well. The great thing is that he can do it across formats. For me, Bumrah is probably the best in the world," Tymal Mills added.
Tymal Mills on his IPL return
Mills' last IPL appearance was back in 2022; since then, he has not played for any franchises in the league, but has been playing in various other T20 leagues. Tymal Mills wished to return to India for the IPL.
"Yeah, I'd love to. I want to play the best cricket that I can for as long as I can. My pace has been good this year. I bowled in the SA20, and I felt really good there. I'm not looking too far ahead. I just want to stay fit and play as much high-level cricket as I can, and if that brings me back to the IPL, then amazing. I'd love to come back to India. It's an amazing place to play cricket," he added.
