The ICC, on Tuesday (August 22), slapped UAE fast-bowler Junaid Siddique with a fine and two demerit points for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I between UAE and New Zealand.

He was found guilty of breaching the code of conduct twice during the match on Sunday (August 20). The pacer has incurred a 25 percent fine to his match fees and has also seen two demerit points being added to his disciplinary record.

Junaid Siddique first broke article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident took place in the fifth over of New Zealand’s innings. The 30-year-old bowler gave an aggressive send-off to Tim Seifert after dismissing him for 13. He received one demerit point as well as an official reprimand for his action.

The second incident saw him violating Article 2.8 of the Code, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision”. During the 17th over of New Zealand’s innings, Junaid Siddique expressed his displeasure by using inappropriate language towards the umpire after an appeal was turned down. He was fined 25 percent of his match fee and received one more demerit point for the incident.

The charges were leveled by on-field umpires Akbar Ali and Shiju Sam, along with third umpire Aasif Iqbal. With the bowler admitting to the offense, there was no need for a formal hearing.
