Uday Saharan not thinking of revenge for the senior team ahead of Under 19 World Cup Final between India and Australia

India Under-19 will be facing Australia Under-19 in the finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 and both teams are ready for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lift the prestigious title Under-19 title. India has won the most number of Under-19 titles in the history of the ICC U-19 World Cup. The Boys in Blue have won five U-19 World Cup titles and have given a lot of gems to the senior national men’s team.

The five captains who have won the ICC U-19 World Cup for India are; Mohammed Kaif (2000-01), Virat Kohli (2008-09), Unmukt Chand (2012-13), Prithvi Shaw (2018-19), and Yash Dhull (2022-23). The Under-19 regiment has given a lot of notable superstars to the Indian team like Rishabh Pant (2016-17), Yashasvi Jaiswal (2022-23), Rohit Sharma (2006-07), KL Rahul (2010-11), and Shubman Gill (2018-19)

India U-19 skipper Uday Saharan has led the side to the finals of the U-19 World Cup and is expected to clinch the title for India and become the sixth captain to win the ICC U-19 World Cup title for India. Uday Saharan has talked about his team’s preparations for the final against Australia. Speaking ahead of the finals, Uday said that the team is well-prepared to face Australia in the finals and will be treating this match as any other game.

“We are very excited for the finals. Everyone’s fit and well-prepared and has a good mindset. We’ve seen the wickets. We’ve played there before, and we know quite a bit about it. We’re ready to face all the challenges. We are taking this as any other game. It’s a final, if there was any other side in front of us, we would’ve played in the same fashion,” said Uday Saharan.

India U-19 Beat South Africa U-19 In A Nail Biting Semi-Final Encounter

Uday Saharan was the Player of The Match in the semi-finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup for his brilliant and gritty 81 off 124 balls. He joined hands with batter Sachin Dhas who smashed 96 off 95 balls to turn the game around for India after they were 32/4 while chasing 248. He scripted an epic comeback for India after it was looking like India might be eliminated in the semi-finals.

“We were quite prepared for a close match. It was good that we had a close match. Now our middle and lower order have also faced the pressure of performing in tough situations. These are the lessons we’ll take forward,” Saharan added while talking about the semi-finals against South Africa.

India has defeated Australia in the U-19 World Cup finals twice before in 2018 and 2012 and this is their third chance to defeat them in the finals of the U-19 World Cup. India has qualified for the finals of the ICC u-19 World Cup for the fifth time in a row. They failed to win the trophy in 2016 and 2020 under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan and Priyam Garg respectively. This is a chance for the boys in Blue to show their prowess on the World stage claim the trophy for the sixth time and become only the second nation after Pakistan to win consecutive U-19 World Cups.
