International cricket umpire Anil Chaudhary recently claimed that umpiring Rohit Sharma is very easy. Chaudhary stated that Rohit is either out or not out which makes it easy for the umpire to make a decision.

Ever since his debut in 2007, Rohit has been highly regarded as one of the most talented players that India has produced. As a youngster, his ability to play high pace stood out. As he became experienced, Rohit established himself as one of the mainstays of the team.

He has grown into one of the best batters in the world who can dismantle any bowling attack with ease on his day. The 37-year-old can play both pace and spin equally well which makes him such a difficult batter to bowl to. If he gets set on a pitch, he can be a real headache for the opposition.

Anil Chaudhary speaks on Rohit Sharma forgetting things at the toss

While speaking in a podcast on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, Anil Chaudhary opened up on his experience with Rohit Sharma.

Chaudhary claimed that Rohit might look casual but he is very smart and understands the game well. The umpire also spoke about Rohit forgetting things at the toss.

"Rohit Sharma is a smart player although he looks casual. He has a very good cricketing IQ. He has a very good understanding of the game. (About forgetting things at the toss) That's an odd instance. Whenever he bats, it always seems like the bowler is bowling at 120 kmph, and when the other player bats, the ball seems like 160 kmph. He has a great sense and is an intelligent player," Chaudhary stated.

Anil Chaudhary claims that umpiring to Rohit Sharma is very easy

Chaudhary reckoned that umpiring Rohit is quite easy as he is either out or not out. There is hardly any confusion during his appeals.

"Umpiring to a player like Rohit Sharma is very easy. He is either out or not out. If you look carefully, he will be either out or not out. That's very good for the umpire," he claimed.

Rohit Sharma is a one-man army on his day - Anil Chaudhary

When asked about his special features, Anil Chaudhary responded that Rohit is natural and has a great ball sense. He further added that Rohit can hit yorkers for sixes. Chaudhary called him a 'One-man army' and said that Rohit has a different class although he seems lazy.

"(What is special in Rohit) He is natural. His footwork is very good and he doesn't commit himself to the ball. He is always behind and waits for the ball to come towards him. Rohit has a great ball sense. He knows which ball he has to come forward. Just check his short-arm pull. I was a TV umpire in one match and he scored around 200-plus. He was hitting sixes to the balls which are the yorkers for the other players. I think the match was in Kolkata. He has a different class. He seems lazy but he has a great idea of swing. If he is in flow on any day, he is a one-man army," Chaudhary said.

"Whenever he is batting, he is total class. It looks nice whenever he is batting. His captaincy is also good but his batting is like music," he added.

Anil Chaudhary is an umpire at the international level and has officiated in various important ICC tournaments as well. He is one of the most successful umpires to have originated from India.

Meanwhile, Rohit is likely to be in action during India's two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh, which will begin on September 19. Rohit retired from the T20I format after India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 but he is still India's Test and ODI captain.
