Unmukt Chand reacts to India's loss in the ICC Under 19 World Cup Final 2024 vs Australia
Unmukt Chand who led the India U19 team to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2012 pens down a heartfelt message for the current India U19 team after they were defeated in the finals of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2024.
Australia U19 won the toss and elected to bat first and posted a total of 253/4 in their 50 overs which was followed by an onslaught by the Australian bowlers who bowled regular bouncers to trouble the Indian batters and eventually bundled them on 174 to win the match by 79 runs.
Unmukt Chand won the Under-19 World Cup with India in 2012 defeating Australia in the finals and he was elected as the Player of The Match for his brilliant century in the finals scoring 111 off 130 deliveries with seven fours and six sixes to chase a target of 226 set by Australia in the finals.
India won their third ICC Under-19 World Cup during that time and after 2012, they went on to win two more titles to become the most successful team in the Under-19 World Cups.
Unmukt Chand took to ‘X’ to write a heartfelt message for the youngsters who represented the nation and were brilliant throughout the tournament. He said that he is proud of the entire team for their performance in this tournament and has asked the players to keep their heads up and learn from this valuable experience. He urged the youngsters to keep backing themselves despite any situation.

Learn and move forward and always back yourself no matter what. Proud of the entire team!!” wrote Unmukt Chand on his ‘X’ handle backing the India u19 players.

India has won the ICC Under-19 World Cup five times and is the most successful team in the history of the tournament. They won their first title in 2000 under the leadership of Mohammad Kaif.
Virat Kohli was the second Indian captain to win the title in 2008 after which Unmukt Chand won the title in 2012. India won the last two Under-19 World Cups in 2018 and 2022 under Prithvi Shaw and Yash Dhull respectively.
Uday Saharan and Musheer Khan were the two top scorers in the tournament as Saharan scored 397 in seven matches and Musheer scored 360 in seven matches.
Saumy Pandey took 18 wickets in seven matches to end up being the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Naman Tiwari and Raj Limbani also impressed everyone with their pace bowling. Raj Limbani took figures of 3/38 in his 10 overs in the finals against Australia.
