Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table After WI vs SA 1st Test 2024

The first Test match between the West Indies and South Africa, which is part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle, finished in a draw at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Sunday, August 11 (local time). South Africa pushed for a win against the West Indies on the final day of the first Test match of the ongoing two-match series, but rain played spoilsport.
Proteas team scored 357 runs in their first innings, with Tony de Zorzi and Temba Bavuma scoring half-centuries. The West Indies were bowled out for 233. Kraigg Brathwaite (35), Mikyle Louis (35), Keacy Carty (42), Jason Holder (36), and Warrican (35*) made crucial runs, while Keshav Maharaj took four wickets.
South Africa declared their second innings at 173/3. Tristan Stubbs top-scored for the Proteas with 68 runs off 50 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes. South Africa couldn't take 10 wickets in the West Indies' second innings. The hosts scored 201 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Alick Athanaze scoring 92.
Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table Revealed
South Africa is in seventh place in the World Test Championship 2023-25. The Proteas share the spot with Bangladesh with 16 points and a PCT of 25%, after one win, three losses, and one draw. West Indies are at the bottom with 20 points and a PCT of 19.04%, having secured one win, two draws, and five losses.
The Indian cricket team is at the top of the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The Men in Blue have secured six wins out of nine matches with a point percentage of 68.51. Defending champions Australia stand in second place with a point percentage of 62.50 after 12 Test matches in the ongoing cycle.
New Zealand is in third place, having won three matches out of six and holding a point percentage of 50. Sri Lanka is in fourth place, followed by Pakistan, England, South Africa, and Bangladesh. The West Indies are at the bottom of the table with just one victory out of eight Test matches and a PCT of 19.04%.
The ICC World Test Championship standings are decided based on the percentage of points earned. Teams receive 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, and 4 for a draw. No points are lost for a defeat, but teams can lose points due to slow over-rates. The top two teams will advance to the final, which is set to be played at Lord’s in 2025.
