Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson is gearing up to represent the USA in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Corey Anderson and several other cricketers relocated to the United States of America after the announcement of Major League Cricket (MLC).

USA Cricket is preparing for the T20 World Cup with a five-match T20I series against Canada and a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. USA Cricket has announced the squad for the upcoming series against Canada, scheduled to commence in Houston on April 7.

Corey Anderson To Represent USA Team In T20 World Cup 2024

Corey Anderson has secured a spot in the 15-man USA squad for the series against Canada. This marks the left-handed batter’s return to international cricket after a hiatus of more than 5 years, with his last appearance for the New Zealand team dating back to 2018.

Since relocating to America in 2020, Anderson has excelled in domestic T20 tournaments. He has accumulated over 900 runs in 28 innings with an impressive strike rate of 146 in the Minor League (MiLC). His standout performance includes a remarkable innings of 94 runs against MI New York in the Major League Cricket (MLC).

Unmukt Chand Fails To Make USA Team For Upcoming Series

Former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand, who relocated to the USA with hopes of reviving his international career, has been omitted from the squad. He was not selected for the team, despite his impressive performances in the last three seasons in the Minor League.

Former India U19 player Harmeet Singh has earned his place in the USA squad due to his exceptional performances. Former RCB batter Milind Kumar has also been included for his consistent form in the MiLC and notable contributions to the Texas Super Kings.

Former Canada captain Nitish Kumar is set to make a comeback to international cricket against his former team, following his move across the border in 2021. His inclusion in the squad comes as a surprise, especially after facing competition from players like Chand.

Monank Patel continues to serve as captain of the USA squad, with Aaron Jones as his deputy in the upcoming series.

USA Squad: Monank Patel (captain), Aaron Jones (vice-captain), Corey Anderson, Gajanand Singh, Jessy Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar, Nisarg Patel, Steven Taylor, Andries Gous, Harmeet Singh, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Nostush Kenjige, Milind Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Usman Rafiq

The T20 World Cup squad hasn’t been unveiled, but recent selections offer insight into the selectors’ preferences. Although Chand was omitted, he remained optimistic about a potential return to the squad.
