The recent report about Hardik Pandya‘s potential move to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans in a sensational trade deal has caused quite a stir in the Indian cricketing fraternity.
Despite enjoying two highly successful seasons with the Gujarat-based outfit, the allrounder is set to move back to his first IPL team ahead of the next season. A final call on the trade deal will be taken before Sunday (November 26) which is the deadline for the trading window. According to media reports, it will be an all-cash one-way deal.
If the deal goes through, it will be the biggest transfer deal in the history of the competition. With the India allrounder’s fee being INR 15 crore, Mumbai Indians will have to pay this amount to their former player while Gujarat Titans will receive that much funds in their salary cap. The Titans will also receive an extra amount for releasing Hardik Pandya as a transfer fee.
Reports also suggest that Mumbai Indians will not involve any other player in the deal. A few rumors suggested that Rohit Sharma might be heading to Gujarat Titans so that Hardik Pandya could lead the Mumbai-based outfit.
Irfan Pathan posts a cryptic message:
With the Indian cricket fraternity busy discussing about the recent reports about Hardik Pandya, former India allrounder Irfan Pathan has raised a number of eyebrows with a cryptic post. The former cricketer-turned-commentator, on Saturday (November 25), took to X to write: “Use and throw has been the real characteristic since the start…”
Use and throw has been the real characteristic since the start…

While it is still not clear what Irfan Pathan really meant by his post, several fans believed it was aimed at Hardik Pandya. Here are some of the reactions from the fans:
HP is leaving because of his differences with GT. This is an instance when a franchise starts to think that captain had minimal role to play in their stellar run.

True, hardik pandya firstly uses Gujarat and now going back to Mumbai

This should not happen at least with your winning captains.

Those who dont know….this rivalry between pathan brothers and pandya brothers is since deepak hooda incident…deepak hooda was mistreated by krunal…pathan brothers supported deepak hooda….so both of these parties do not shy away from shaming each other… https://t.co/qcQzwXKCXS

paisa is more important than career. Given how injury prone is Hardik, he would want to be in good books of Ambani rather than having a long and successful career as a captain https://t.co/JAEbiHs6Qd

This is not the first time that Irfan Pathan has found himself in this situation. In the past too, the former India allrounder was accused of targeting Hardik Pandya with indirect posts. Earlier this year, the fans claimed that Irfan Pathan had taken an indirect dig at Hardik Pandya after the latter denied Tilak Varma the opportunity to score a fifty in his maiden T20I series.
“Mushkil kaam aap karo, Asaan kaam mein Kar leta hoo. Suna suna Sa lagta hai… (You do the tough task, I’ll do the easy work. I’ve heard this before…),” Irfan Pathan posted.
