Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 100 awarded the Greatest Individual Performance in IPL History

Former Mumbai Indians player Shaun Pollock showered praise on Rajasthan Royals (RR) Vaibhav Suryavanshi following his knock against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025. Pollock also described the left-handed batter's sensational century as the greatest individual performance ever in Indian Premier League history.

The Royals secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, April 28. Chasing a 210-run target, the 14-year-old smashed the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history. He scored 101 runs off just 38 balls, including 11 sixes and seven fours.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Shaun Pollock hailed Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s innings as the greatest individual performance in IPL history. Pollock pointed out that the IPL has witnessed several memorable performances over the years, but none matched the impact of Suryavanshi’s knock.

“For me, this is the greatest individual performance of the IPL ever. It’s got to be. I mean, as a 14-year-old to go and stand out there and smash it around and get a 100 off 35 balls, there’s — I mean, there have been great victories and performances and that, but that’s got to be the greatest performance ever in IPL history,” Pollock said.

“He has absolutely smashed it. There are some guys who have been playing four years of IPL before he was born. He walked out here today and he's just dictated terms,” he added.

Really Impressed with That Calmness and the Shot Selection - Adam Gilchrist

Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his composure and shot selection during his innings. Gilchrist added that Suryavanshi improved his shot range as the innings progressed, noting that he wasn’t limited to power-hitting alone.

"I was just really impressed with that calmness and the shot selection. He goes aggressively to the leg side," Gilchrist said.

"That's a big strength area for him and gains a bit of fortune if he gets that thick outside edge. But I thought by the end of the innings, I was impressed that he has a greater array of shots than just a slog over midwicket," he added.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets Multiple Records with Explosive IPL Century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcased his destructive batting skills and broke multiple records. Before reaching his century, he had scored the fastest half-century of IPL 2025, reaching the milestone in just 17 balls.

Vaibhav was the fastest Indian to score a century in the IPL, and the second-fastest century overall, only behind Chris Gayle, who achieved the landmark in 30 balls during the 2013 season.

With just three matches played, Vaibhav has already established himself as a fearless and exciting talent in the league, leaving a lasting impression with his fearless batting approach and record-breaking performances at such a young age.
