A major update arrives on Varun Chakravarthy ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) next game against the Gujarat Titans (GT), tomorrow on May 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Ahead of the match, there are a few updates on the ace spinner of KKR. Because of an injury in his leg, Vaun Chakravarthy missed the previous match in IPL 2026, which was in New Raipur on May 13, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Without the spinner in the line-up, KKR suffered a defeat in the away fixture against RCB.

Early updates on Varun Chakravarthy's injury ahead of the KKR vs GT match in Kolkata

According to a recent report of Cricbuzz, the Medical Team and Coaching Staff are keeping a close eye on his progress. He did bowl in the nets on Friday, which is a good sign for him and for the Kolkata Knight Riders. But, will he be able to take the ground against the Gujarat Titans on Saturday? KKR head coach provided some light on the injury of Varun Chakravarthy

During the RCB vs KKR match, the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Abhishek Nayar, confirmed that the 34-year-old has an injury on his toe. According to Nayar, there was a hairline on the injured part as well. The head coach of the team provided some details on the injury, but did not mention any time frame for his return to action in the ongoing season.

“It’s not been easy for him. He’s been trying in the last couple of days to come out for the team, but maybe in the next game, if his toe gets better, he’ll come in. But there’s a small hairline on his toe, and it’s on the foot that he lands on, so it’s quite uncomfortable for him right now. We’re very hopeful that he comes back in the next game,” Nayar informed during the innings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

KKR suffered a defeat against RCB without the service of Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy injured himself during the match against the Delhi Capitals. He was limping badly during his last over of his spell. After the match, the spinner was spotted wearing knee braces and using crutches. Varun has been one of KKR’s key players, and he was in form as well.

Without him, KKR lacked quality and depth in their bowling department against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and they eventually lost the match. As of now, it is unknown when he will be able to get back in action for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season.
