Varun picked up the injury during IPL 2026

Varun Chakravarthy picked up the injury during the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He bowled a few deliveries with an injury.

During the season, it was reported that the veteran spinner injured his foot and had a hairline fracture. During a match against the Delhi Capitals, Varun was visibly in pain and somehow finished his bowling quota. Questions were raised against the franchise as they had risked the bowler's fitness despite knowing about the injury.

India's T20I squad for the T20Is against Ireland:

Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dropped from the ODIs

The squad for the ODI series was also announced on Sunday, with Shubman Gill leading the side as the captain. Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are named in the team. Virat Kohli's participation in the series is subject to his fitness.

The star batter has a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 season during the final match with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Due to the injury, he missed the entire India vs Afghanistan ODI series. Harshit Rana will mark his return after a long injury lay-off in the ODIs through the series.

Gurnoor Brar, who made his India debut against Afghanistan, has also been selected for the England series. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a match-winning century in the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai, has been dropped from the side.
