Venkatesh Iyer Bought By Kolkata Knight Riders For INR 23.75 crore at IPL Auction 2025

Venkatesh Iyer is expected to cause a bidding war in the IPL 2025 mega auction after his exploits in the tournament in recent years. The left-handed batsman has registered himself for the auction at a base price of INR 2 crore.

His journey in the tournament began in 2021 when he was signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders. Iyer hit the ground running in the tournament, scoring 370 runs in 10 games including four half-centuries as Kolkata Knight Riders qualified for the final. He scored a fifty in the Qualifier as well as the final.

Before the IPL 2022 mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders decided against releasing him. Iyer had a poor season with the bat in 2022 but he bounced back in style in the following season.

In 2023, he scored 404 runs with the help of a century and two half-centuries. In 2024, he scored 370 runs including four fifties to help Kolkata Knight Riders clinch the title after a gap of ten years.

Venkatesh Iyer will continue to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL after being bought by them in the IPL 2025 auction at a whopping price of INR 23.75 crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders stayed in the race throughout. They first saw off competition from Lucknow Super Giants before taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the end, the Bengaluru-based outfit was outbid by the reigning champions.
