Last season's costliest KKR bid, Venkatesh Iyer, has issued a verdict on probable link-ups between KKR and SRH for trading the INR 23.75 crore batting all-rounder to the Orange Army ahead of the upcoming IPL mini-auction.
The Indian Premier League saw one of its biggest mega-auctions in the history of the tournament last season. Just before the IPL 2025, several big and unexpected changes occurred, which included the release of title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer by KKR, Rishabh Pant's INR 27 crore move to LSG, and Jos Buttler's release by the Rajasthan Royals.
However, one bid that took everyone by surprise was Kolkata Knight Riders' investment of INR 23.75 Crores on batting all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. The left-handed batter was himself left baffled after the insane bid he acquired during the mega-auction.
Venkatesh Iyer linked with SRH trade ahead of mini-auction
As per certain reports made by Indian Sports media, the Sunrisers Hyderabad could be interested in making a move on acquiring Venkatesh Iyer on their side and could approach KKR with a trade deal.
As per the reports suggested, SRH might hand over their valuable wicket-keeper batsman, Ishan Kishan, who was acquired for INR 11.25 Crores in the mega-auction. Kishan is not a bad choice for KKR, as they are anyway in search of a wicket-keeper batsman as well as an opening partner for Sunil Narine.
Iyer had a terrible season in 2025, as he scored just 142 runs in the season, averaging 20, while Ishan Kishan saw a dip in form as well but ended with 354 runs, including a ton for the Sunrisers.
KKR all-rounder drops 'clueless' verdict on SRH move
After being linked with SRH on a trade deal, Venkatesh Iyer was questioned on what his stance is on the move and how credible the rumours are.
To this, the KKR batter simply seemed clueless about the fact and stated, "I have got absolutely no clue. There has been nothing at all from the KKR management also."

Nothing has indeed been made official from either of the two managements, and SRH would anyway have to go with more money for acquiring his services even if they decide to trade Ishan Kishan out. Such a hefty investment before the mini-auction would leave them with a reduced purse for the mini-auction.
Defending champions RCB have also reportedly shown interest in having the KKR all-rounder through trade, as they were one of the teams bidding for him in the mega-auction as well.
Trade Rumours ahead of the IPL mini-auction
Keeping out Venkatesh Iyer, Sanju Samson has been the most talked about trade in recent times, as he has been linked with a probable move to CSK after being traded by the Rajasthan Royals.
On the other hand, some News 24 reports also claimed that PBKS all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who had a very poor season with Punjab Kings but has made a comeback in the MLC and the international games for Australia, has also been targeted by franchises like CSK and GT.
Defending champions RCB's Liam Livingstone has also been on the market list as MI and LSG look interested in the English all-rounder, as they might look to place him to strengthen their power-hitting unit down the order.
