Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was very stern in his words regarding certain players who give scope and a platform to ‘brash journalists’, claiming that these players enjoy the limelight and buttering but need to develop a better sense of judgment.

Recently, Wriddhiman Saha posted screenshots from a journalist who asked for an interview. Upon rejection, the journalist was offended and began threatening Saha, who has been a loyal servant to Indian cricket. The threats evoked a series of responses from the cricketing fraternity.

While there are some exceptional sports journalists, who love the game, are passionate and respect the players while having boundaries, certain entitled ones just ,because of proximity to big players have been bullies report just to sensationalise with no knowledge & substance 1/2.

It is equally important for players who give these kind of brash journalist a platform & unnecessary access to have better sense of who to be close to and have a clear boundary. I am afraid some top players have lacked that sense just because they enjoy the buttering. #Saha,” Prasad tweeted.

Here’s what Venkatesh Prasad had to say:

After the issue, the BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal stated that the culprit in the case will be found and stern action will be taken in the matter. While Saha hasn’t yet confirmed the name of the journalist, Twitterati has begun digging deep.

The scandal also comes to light after Saha’s exclusion from the Indian team and his subsequent break from the Ranji Trophy 2022 season. He was told by Rahul Dravid that he may not be in the fray anymore and young keepers are being groomed with the future in mind.
