I mean it is always good to see someone at the top batting like that - Suryakumar Yadav

India batted first in the match and posted a huge total of 247/9 on the board, thanks to the exceptional batting performance of Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a sensational 135 runs off 54 balls, with 7 fours and 13 sixes. The total proved to be too big for the visitors and they got all out for just 97 runs in 10.3 overs.

Speaking after the match, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said that they wanted to play a different brand of cricket and were aware of the risk factors associated with it. Suryakumar Yadav elaborated:

"No, it's always about being instinctive at the ground. However you feel will get you a wicket, just throw the ball to them. I mean these guys work really hard in the nets and keep practicing to do well in the game. I am really pleased with their efforts.

"I mean this is what we have spoken about in the team meeting. We wanted to play a different brand of cricket and sticking to it irrespective to what is the outcome. It is a high risk of a game but it is what it is."

While talking about Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav said that he is delighted with the batter's performance and is happy for his family. He said:

"(On Abhishek Sharma). I mean, it is always good to see someone at the top batting like that. I am very happy for his family as well. I am sure they must have enjoyed this innings."

On his bowling, I have said that many times, he is a very process-oriented man - Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav further lauded Varun Chakravarthy, who won the Player of the Series award, saying that he is a process-oriented player. He said:

"(On Varun Chakaravarthy) I thought you are going to talk about this fielding (laughs). I mean he has been one guy who has been relentlessly working hard during training with Dilip Sir. He always takes out time for his fielding. On his bowling, I have said that many times, he is a very process-oriented man and I am very happy for him."

Suryakumar Yadav signed off by talking about the brilliant performances of the Indian players on the field. He said:

"I mean that's one thing you do together on the field. The efforts bring an extra energy in the team irrespective of what you do in the batting or bowling department. That is what I demand and they never disappoint."

How did India perform in the previous T20I against England?

India showcased a tremendous performance in the 4th T20I against England on January 31 and bagged a 15-run victory to win the series as well. Losing the toss and batting first, the home team posted a great total of 181/9 on the board despite early setbacks.

All-rounders Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya were the chief architects behind the destruction as they took the English bowlers to cleaners with their power-hitting.

Shivam Dube scored a Player of the Match-winning 53 off 34 balls while Hardik Pandya blasted 53 from 30 balls. They were involved in an 87-run stand and their counter-attacks put the English team under pressure.

With the ball, Indian spinners played a key role in defending the target. Ravi Bishnoi was outstanding with figures of 3/28, dismissing key England batters, including Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler.

Varun Chakravarthy’s 2/28 and Harshit Rana’s three vital wickets also played a key part in bundling out the Three Lions for 166 in 19.4 overs. Notably, Rana made his T20I debut after being chosen as a concussion substitute for Dube.
