Ambati Rayudu has slammed team management for giving a stupid logic for dropping him from 2019 ODI World Cup. Ambati Rayudu said that the management felt he was not confident as he used to be calm and quiet. However, he termed this as a stupid logic.

Ambati Rayudu was a regular middle-order batter for India ahead of ODI World Cup 2019. However, he was dropped from the final squad and Vijay Shankar was picked as a replacement. Shankar had the ability to bowl which turned selectors in his favour.

Ambati Rayudu Slams Team Management’s Stupid Logic Behind His Ouster

Ambati Rayudu slammed selectors for dropping him for stupid logic. According to Rayudu, selectors thought he was not confident as he used to be calm and quiet.

“It was pure stupidity from the team management. They thought I was not confident as I used to be calm and quiet. That was some stupid logic from them. How can you judge a player on this parameter,” Rayudu said.

Recently, Ravi Shastri admitted that dropping Rayudu was a fault. Shastri was the coach of the team during the World Cup.

“I didn’t have any say in the selection of the team. Three wicketkeepers were chosen for the World Cup, and I was not happy about that. Ambati or Shreyas might have been in. What was the logic in having MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh [Pant] together?,” Shastri had told TOI during a chat.

Although Shastri denied that he didn’t have any say in the selection process, some former selectors have denied this fact. They said that Shastri was a part of the selection process and he had a role in dropping Ambati Rayudu from the squad.

India lost the semi-final in ICC World Cup 2019 to New Zealand. During the league stage, India was the most dominant team. However, Kiwis dismantled India’s batting order with their pace attack. Notably, after the top-order collapse, the middle-order failed to come up with a decent show. In the end, India lost the match by 21 runs, failing to chase down a 240-run target.
