Virat Kohli will achieve another remarkable feat in his well-decorated international career. If he walks out for tonight’s India vs England 2nd ODI of the series, then the batter will have another record in his name- the record of playing his 100th ODI match across South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia.

India will play two more ODIs against Australia before the conclusion of the ongoing UK tour. Virat Kohli is expected to feature on July 16 for the second ODI of the three-match ODI series at the Sophia Gardens Cricket Ground in Cardiff. If he plays in Cardiff, then it will be a huge moment for him.

Virat Kohli joins list of elite players in Cardiff

So far, only a few Indian cricketers have achieved the feat of playing 100 ODIs in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar and the former India captain MS Dhoni are the only two Indian cricketers who hold the record. Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving this as the third Indian cricketer.

According to the stats, Virat has so far played 20 One Day International matches in South Africa, 34 in England, 13 ODIs in New Zealand, and in Australia, the star batter has featured in 32 ODIs.

In 99 ODIs across the SENA nations, the right-hander has scored a total of 4,344 runs with a batting average of 54.3 and a strike rate of 89.67. Under the challenging conditions of England, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand, the Delhi-born earned ten 100s and twenty-nine 50s to mark his supremacy.

India will try to wrap up the ODI series vs England

Tonight’s match in Cardiff is crucial for both India and England, as the Men in Blue are leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0, having claimed the previous match in Birmingham.

If they continue the momentum and register a win tonight as well, then they will win the series with one more match on the cards. But if England makes a bounce-back and defeats India, then the scoreline will be 1-1, and the remaining match of the series will be a virtual final.

Expectations are already running high as the cricket fans are waiting to see another flamboyant knock from the batting maestro in his milestone match. Even before the declaration of the playing elevens, posts on social media platforms are shared, congratulating Virat Kohli in advance for his special achievement.

Virat Kohli needs to make a comeback

In the lead-up to the 2027 ODI World Cup, Virat himself will try to bat according to his own caliber, especially after being dismissed for only 5 runs in the previous match.

It is worth remembering that Virat has just come out of a hamstring injury, which he received during the IPL 2026 final while batting for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against the Gujarat Titans, and IPL 2026 was excellent for him.

He helped the team to defend the title with his consistent batting. If he finds his rhythm soon, then England bowlers will have to face more challenges ahead in the series.
