The popular ‘One8 Commune’ restaurant in Bengaluru, near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, famously known as 'Virat Kohli's restaurant' among the Indian cricket fans, has shut down all operations after the court directives.

Virat Kohli has reportedly given up his ownership of the company and withdrawn his brand name from the restaurant as well, according to the latest media reports. According to reports, because of multiple compliance issues and notices over alleged fire safety violations in recent years, the Indian cricket star has distanced himself from the venture.

The One8 Commune restaurant shuts down with an excessive amount of dues

As per the report, the One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru, which was managed by Trio Hills Hospitality, is alleged to have defaulted on rent for nearly six months. The company is also charged for pending maintenance charges and revenue share. Amount due is reportedly exceeding INR 2 crore, which is a massive amount. Because of the excessive amount of debt, the owner of the building moved to the local civil court to seek justice. The court ordered the restaurant to shut down until all dues are cleared.

"The outlet had also received multiple notices from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for regulatory violations. With Kohli’s brand exit and declining footfall, the business reportedly incurred significant losses. The restaurant will remain shut until outstanding payments are settled, in line with court directions," India Today claimed in their report.

Some other major allegations as well over the pub and restaurant

In another instance, a case was filed against the pub and restaurant under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act for failing to provide a designated smoking zone on the premises.

The restaurant previously received a warning for not maintaining the precautionary measures. The restaurant was even alleged to have run without a No Objection Certificate from the Fire Department and other mandatory clearances.

Virat Kohli separated himself completely from the restaurant

It is also reported that Virat Kohli later distanced himself from the establishment and reportedly warned the restaurant owners. He might have also asked the owners to remove his brand name, which is 'Ond18', from the restaurant name. The departure of the batting superstar has also reportedly damaged the restaurant's business and reputation as well significantly.

It is also claimed that although the restaurant owners later secured a stay order against the closure, the outlet has not resumed operations. At present, all the operations of the restaurant remain closed.

In another incident, the One8 Commune had to face another legal case in the past. The case was filed against their separate foundation on MG Road for breaching the operation hours rule.

"Another case was also registered against One8 Commune, along with other establishments on MG Road, for operating beyond permitted hours. The Bengaluru branch of One8 Commune was inaugurated in December 2023," the India Today report further informed.

As of now, there is no statement issued by Virat Kohli himself.
