Virat Kohli wins hearts with a heartwarming gesture for a young fan

At this stage of his career, a player of Virat Kohli's esteem is not left surprised by many things, but even he was left speechless when he stumbled upon a childhood version of himself on the eve of the Rajkot ODI.

A day ahead of the series opener between India and New Zealand, a young fan who had a striking resemblance to Kohli's childhood image was seen during India's practice, and Virat Kohli could not stop smiling.

The kid then came down and clicked pictures with the Indian legend while also taking Kohli's autograph. He then met with several other Indian players, including Rohit Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, and Indian wicket-keeper KL Rahul.

"Woh dekh mera duplicate baitha hai," Kohli pointed out to Rohit Sharma

When Kohli approached the fan, he also acknowledged the fact that the fan was indeed 'Chota Chiku,' as Chiku was the Indian cricketer's nickname during his childhood days, which former captain MS Dhoni had revealed during their playing days.

The young fans revealed that when he called out Virat's name, he waved hi at him and was shortly back with Rohit Sharma and said, "Woh dekh mera duplicate baitha hai" (My duplicate is sitting tight there) and pointed at the young Rajkot boy.

"He called me Chota Chiku. I met KL Rahul, Arshdeep, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma,” remarked the young fan.

Virat's upcoming matches in 2026

Kohli's appearances got few and far between as he retired from Test and T20 cricket for India. However, 2026 would not be the same as 2025, since India have several ODI matches scheduled this year due to the 2027 ICC World Cup preparations.

After the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Virat would return to some T20 action with the IPL. Kohli will be part of RCB's title defence campaign in IPL 2026 from the 26th of March.

Next after the IPL, India have scheduled a series against England in July and will continue to play 12 more ODI games across series against Bangladesh, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.
