Virat Kohli hailed as extraordinary leader like Ben Stokes by Ex-UK PM

Former UK PM David Cameron lavished massive praise on India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli. He hailed the premier batter's leadership, saying that he was an extraordinary leader and had a similar impact as Ben Stokes has had on the England team.

India National Cricket Team batter Kohli is the biggest face of the cricket. The kind of impact he has had on the game has been sensational and has been one the biggest reasons why Team India is one of the fiercest teams in the world of cricket.

Kohli, who is regarded as the best batter of the current generation, was one of the best captains to have led the India National Cricket Team. The right-hander took over the charge of the team in Tests first when MS Dhoni retired and then later took over the white-ball captaincy as well.

Virat Kohli made India National Cricket Team the most dominating on the world stage. It was because of him that the Team started winning the Tests in the overseas conditions. He ended up as the best captain for the team in the longest format of the game for the nation and also had decent success in white-ball cricket.

Former UK PM David Cameron, while talking about Virat Kohli's leadership, said that just like Ben Stokes, the India batter displayed incredible captaincy on the field and was an inspiration. He believes that a lot of young players will be on the same page and take India forward. Speaking during an event with NDTV, he explained:

"I think in Virat Kohli, you had an extraordinary leader. Sometimes, you can see, as we have done with Ben Stokes as our captain, just incredible captaincy on the field and inspiration. I think you had that with Virat Kohli.

"So lots of great cricket players to watch. Some great British-Indian players coming through. In the years to come, you will see many British-Indian players coming through and taking on India and hopefully winning,"

Virat Kohli became the fourth Indian batter in history to complete 9000 runs in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli, India's most successful Test captain, ended with 40 wins and 17 defeats from 68 matches. Overall, he is the third most experienced Indian captain in international cricket with 135 wins from 213 games across formats from 2013 to 2022.

He is currently part of the India Team for the Test series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. He played a vital innings of 70 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Not only this, he also became the fourth Indian batter in history to complete 9000 runs in Test cricket.

Ex-UK PM David Cameron also mentioned that he grew up watching Bishan Bedi. He also talked about witnessing Rahul Dravid slam a century in England and his colleague talking about the former India coach. He added:

"I am so old that I grew up watching Bishan Bedi. I remember watching Rahul Dravid score a brilliant century in the UK. I remember sitting with John Major who is another Conservative Prime Minister who said -Watch this guy, he is very very good," he concluded.
