Amit has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC) side ahead of the IPL 2027. He will work alongside Sourav Ganguly, the head coach, Yuvraj Singh, the batting coach, and Chaminda Vaas, the pace bowling coach. He will look to develop the side's young spinners.

"When I was injured Anil bhai (Anil Kumble) was the coach. I told Anil bhai; he said don't worry once you will be fit, you will automatically come back. Virat Kohli was the captain after that. I asked Virat Kohli, What do you want to do?, He replied, don't worry, once you get fit and you are there."
Amit Mishra calls Virat Kohli a liar
In the same video, Amit Mishra said that he called and messaged Virat Kohli multiple times, but he never replied to any of that, adding that he said after a certain point of time he lost hope, and he also mentioned that players who were injured long back even before him made comeback to the team but he did not return.
"So I went to him. I said, What is the situation? He said, I will tell you in a week or ten days. Then a week passed, two weeks, three weeks, passed but I didn't get anything. I called him, but he didn't pick up the call. I messaged him, but he didn't reply."
"Then again I called and messaged but there was no reply after that, I left the hope and what can we do? When he doesn't want to reply. There have been instances where more people than me got injured, got injured for a longer period; they came back, but I never got an answer."
