"Virat Kohli is dangerous, but.."- David Lloyd unveils his greatest Test XI

David Lloyd, after conducting research and engaging with fans on social media, revealed that an overwhelming 95 percent of fans favored Tendulkar for the spot in the all-time greatest Test XI over Kohli.

Reflecting on the comparison, the England legend highlighted Tendulkar's humility and ability to leave his ego aside, contrasting with Kohli's charismatic personality and aggressive style of play.

However, Lloyd acknowledged Kohli's exceptional talent and game-changing abilities, but he firmly placed Tendulkar ahead of the modern-era legend in the all-time greatest Test XI. He said that both Tendulkar and Kohli as extraordinary players, but the Master Blaster remains the certain choice for the all-time greatest Test XI.

Furthermore, Lloyd said that had he had to choose between Tendulkar and Brian Lara, he would have gone with the West Indies legend because of his unmatched ability to play shots that are just unbelievable.

The cricket commentator was in awe of Lara's natural flair and innovative shot-making. However, he was impressed by Tendulkar's consistent demeanor and risk-averse approach as it set him apart from other legends of his era.

David Lloyd said during an interaction on talkSPORT Cricket: “I did a bit of research, got on social media, and I threw it out there. You can only have one. 95 percent said Sachin. Some are telling me, criticizing me, some even asking the question. It's ridiculous. There is only one answer. The one thing that kept coming up was that Sachin would leave his ego at home. I think the other guy is quite a personable chap, Virat Kohli. In Test cricket, Sachin.

The other guy is incredible, Virat Kohli. Dangerous. Would take the game away. Exciting player. If I had a choice in a Test match between Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, I would have Lara. He could hit the ball in places that weren't even invented and could do it all very naturally. A different animal, Lara.

He could get a bit touchy but I never saw that with Sachin Tendulkar. He was on an even keel all the time, Tendulkar. Didn't really take chances. So, in the Test match, between him and Kohli, two fabulous players. It's not really an argument, Sachin.”

When talking about ODI and T20I cricket, Kohli has already surpassed Tendulkar’s record of all-time highest ODI scores, and he now has 50 centuries to his name in the format. While Sachin had just one T20I to his name, Kohli has played a lot of games for India and won many historic games for the country, apart from being a consistent performer in the IPL.

So, Lloyd has picked Kohli over Tendulkar in his greatest all-format XI. The former England pacer signed off by saying: “Sachin was sublime. All is right with the world, but I like a bit of rock and roll. We're talking about two of the greatest players there's ever been. We're trying to look at T20s and ODIs, you could easily go for Kohli.”

Notably, Kohli is currently on fire with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024, where he is plying his trade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He is currently the leading run scorer in the tournament with 650+ scores and will be next seen in action for Team India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean.
