"Virat Kohli Is Not Sir Viv Richards.."- Clive Lloyd
Virat Kohli is considered the greatest cricketer in the modern era. He has always been in the record books for his terrific stats in the sport. Recently, he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in the ODI format as he completed his 50th century in ODI cricket and it was a special moment for him as he reached the milestone during the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Former West Indies skipper Clive Lloyd feels he will break more records of Sachin Tendulkar as he has a lot of time left in his career.
It has been over a decade since Sachin Tendulkar made that famous statement saying, “Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) are the ones” when he was asked about who will break his records in cricket. Since then, Virat Kohli has broken numerous records which were held by Sachin Tendulkar and he is also nearing some more. Virat Kohli has always considered Sachin Tendulkar as his idol and has never liked being compared to him.
Recently, Former West Indies skipper Clive Llyod, arrived in Kolkata to attend an event at the Adamas University where he was asked some questions about modern-day cricket and how the sport is evolving. One of the questions that was asked to him was about the comparisons between West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards and Virat Kohli.
On this question, Lloyd took it a bit further in time and said that Kohli can also achieve Sachin’s feat. He said, “Virat Kohli and Viv Richards are two different types of cricketers. So, there is no comparison. Virat will play cricket for a long time. He can achieve many things. He can also achieve the feat of Sachin Tendulkar. He has that capability and has time in his hand.”

Virat Kohli Needs 20 More Centuries To Equal Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 Centuries
Virat Kohli already has 80 international centuries to his name with 50 coming in the ODI format. He needs 20 more centuries in international cricket to reach Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in international cricket. This will be the most difficult record for Kohli to achieve as he is already 35 years old and even if he stays fit for the next four years, he needs to score five international centuries every year to reach his idol’s biggest feat.
Virat Kohli also needs to play regular cricket if he wants to reach 100 international centuries as he is consistently rested for some bilateral series against weaker nations. However, it is also important that he remains fit as he is one of the most important assets for the Indian team and he can turn the tide in any match if he is in his game. Currently, he is in the Indian squad which is playing Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series.
Virat Kohli missed the first T20I against Afghanistan but will most likely play the remaining two T20Is. He will then feature in the five-match Test series against England which is scheduled to commence on January 25. The first Test will be played in Hyderabad whereas the other four venues for the series are Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala.
