Former Pakistan coach Mohsin Khan stunned the cricket world with his bewildering statement on Virat Kohli while defending the underfire Babar Azam. Babar Azam’s recent performances were below par for his standard, and after Pakistan’s early exit from the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the star batter has been receiving hate from all the corners.
Once hailed as a modern great and compared to Virat Kohli, Babar Azam’s struggles in crucial moments against the big teams have raised serious concerns and sparked massive criticism. Babar recently played a slow innings of 64 runs off 90 balls during Pakistan’s 6-run loss to New Zealand, but he showcased his class with some stunning boundaries against India.
Yet again, the right-handed batter cheaply lost his wicket to Hardik Pandya after facing only 26 balls for just 23 runs. Babar’s tendency to throw away his wicket in the 20s and 30s has left one and all puzzled, but Mohsin blamed the think-tank for his struggles.

Now, reacting to the former Pakistan skipper’s ongoing struggles and comparisons with the Indian batting icon Virat Kohli, Mohsin Khan has given a jaw-dropping statement on the Indian cricket superstar. He has shockingly declared Virat Kohli “zero” compared to Babar Azam.
The former Pakistan coach blamed Pakistan cricket’s deeper issues for the star batter’s form and the national team’s current state. Mohsin said that the Pakistan system is in complete disarray, lacking planning, strategy, and accountability.
Like many, the former Pakistani cricketer suggested that the chaos within the national setup is directly affecting the performances of the players and eventually the team on the field. He called the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the team management for accountability.
Virat Kohli is nothing compared to Babar Azam: Mohsin Khan
Mohsin Khan said on Ary News, “First of all, let me tell you one thing. Virat Kohli is nothing compared to Babar Azam, Kohli is zero. We are not talking here about who is a better player and we are talking about Pakistan cricket. Which has been destroyed. There is no planning, no strategies, no merit, and there is no accountability at all. There is no accountability.”

Meanwhile, former Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam has raised concerns over Babar Azam’s role at the top of the order, criticizing the decision to push him into the opener’s slot, especially in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He believes that Babar is best suited to No. 3, where he could anchor the innings and build a big score.

Intikhab Alam questions why on earth will you send Babar Azam to No. 1?
Alam also questioned why Babar agreed to the change that hurt Pakistan’s chances in the tournament. Intikhab Alam was quoted as saying by Sportstar, “Why on earth will you send him to No. 1? He’s not an opener. No. 3 is the backbone of a batting lineup, and your best bet should come in that position, and he should have been told by the coaches to stay there for the entire duration and get a century.”
Alam signed off by saying, “If he got you a hundred and someone else chipped in with 50 or 60-odd, you’d have nearly 300 runs on the board, and that’s how you should be playing. Even Babar should have refused to change his batting position. I don’t know who convinced him to open the innings. It was a bad decision.”
