A fun segment by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) featuring Virat Kohli has created a massive buzz among the fans in the middle of the ongoing IPL 2026. Virat Kohli was given a simple challenge, and the RCB icon completed it with perfection that went viral across social media platforms.
The task was very interesting, as Kohli had to sit on the chair until he heard the name of a player he believed was a bigger match-winner than Chris Gayle in IPL history. As soon as that name came, he had to stand up. As soon as the round began, big names started coming one after another.

The list included some of the biggest IPL stars like David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina. But Kohli did not react to any of these names and stayed seated, as he was not convinced yet.
Then came another big name. As soon as AB de Villiers’ name came up, Kohli immediately stood up and walked away without any hesitation. He made it clear that the South African legend and his former RCB teammate AB de Villiers are the ultimate match-winners in IPL history.
Was just waiting for his name: Virat Kohli picks AB de Villiers as ultimate IPL match-winner
The RCB shared the clip on its social media handles with a caption that read, "Nothing but facts from Virat Kohli. 😉❤️ Who’s the biggest match winner in the IPL?”
After selecting ABD, Kohli said: “I was just waiting for one name.”

This moment also showed the strong bond between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Both players have shared many memorable partnerships for RCB over the years. In fact, they have created history together with five-century partnerships and even two double-century stands.
RCB move turned AB de Villiers into true IPL legend
However, Chris Gayle remains one of the biggest entertainers in IPL history with nearly 5000 runs. Speaking about de Villiers, the Proteas legend started his IPL journey in 2008 with Delhi Daredevils, but before the 2011 season, he was released and then picked by Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
And this move completely changed his IPL career. At RCB, AB de Villiers became one of the biggest stars of the league. Known as “Mr. 360” for his ability to play shots all around the ground, he entertained fans with his unique batting style and match-winning knocks.
The former South African captain played 154 IPL matches and scored 5,162 runs, including 413 fours and 251 sixes. He also hit 40 half-centuries and 3 centuries. He played his last IPL season in 2021, where he still managed to score more than 300 runs in 15 matches.
Kohli's sensational IPL 2026 form
On the other hand, Kohli has been in remarkable form in the ongoing IPL 2026. Currently, the dashing right-hander is holding the Orange Cap as the highest run-scorer of the tournament.
In just five matches, Kohli has already scored 228 runs at an average of 57 and a strike rate of 158 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He will be seen in action on April 18 when RCB will take on Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 game.
