The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no.23, has just ended between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). RCB defeated LSG by 5 wickets with five overs to spare, and climbed to the top of the table. After the win, Virat Kohli delivered a speech after taking on the Orange Cap.

Virat Kohli scored 49 off 34 balls and nearly missed his half-century. The former RCB captain has been in sensational form and has now scored 228 runs in 5 innings with an average of 57. Virat has scored two half-centuries in the season. He will look to add more runs under the belt and keep the orange cap as long as possible.

Virat Kohli provides update on injury

Kohli also shared his update on the ankle issue, as the star batter still believes that he is not fully fit. The former India captain also did not take the field due to the injury he sustained and was used as an impact player in the game.

Virat said, "(How did tonight feel?) Much better than the last game. I'm still not 100%. My knee was a bit sore last game. Even health-wise, I've been under the weather for four or five days now. So, just getting back up to my best. I started off well today, so I was happy with my intensity. Again, would have liked to carry on and finish the game off."

The pitch slowed down considerably- Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli also spoke about the pitch being a bit dry, and also about the conditions being hot and dry, with the pitch having no grass on it. The former India skipper also praised the batting unit of RCB.

Virat said, "Sometimes you have to take the conditions into account as well. The pitch slowed down considerably and I just wanted to probably keep going in the same manner. But yeah, in the end, should have probably finished that one off as well. (On the pitch) Yeah, it was slower than normal. If you saw, there was not enough grass on it. The last 3-4 days have been very, very hot."

KP hasn't even batted in any games yet- Virat Kohli

"It's been very dry as well. So, we thought it's going to be a dry, slow wicket rather than one of those bare ones that are tacky when we play in Chinnaswamy. So, it was different and hence the idea was to push the game away from the opposition and take the game away from them in the first five-six overs."

"I have to adapt my roles accordingly. It allows me to play a certain way up front with Salty. So we pass on the baton pretty nicely in this team. And yeah, just the freedom of having Romario and Tim and .. KP hasn't even batted in any games yet. So, we're sitting on a batting unit that's explosive, that's getting the job done."

RCB, after the win, have climbed up to the top of the table and will play Delhi Capitals in their next game at home, which will be their final home game match of the IPL 2026, as they will play their last two home games at Raipur.
