Virat Kohli Reveals Meaning Of Daughter Vamika’s Name; Speaks On Whether Her Photos Will Be Shared

India captain Virat Kohli was blessed with a daughter with wife Anushka Sharma in the January of 2021. He had left the Indian team’s tour of Australia after the white-ball series and the first Test defeat in Adelaide.

Though he was criticized for leaving the team mid-way, especially after that humiliating defeat, it was a decision that was made well in advance.

Later on, the power couple later revealed that the daughter was named Vamika and requested everyone to respect their privacy. Since then, the couple and their child have been clicked multiple times at airports as Kohli and Anushka traveled during the home series against England and the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), however, not many photos of their daughter have been released online, even for media.

Virat Kohli is currently in quarantine along with the Indian men’s and women’s teams in Mumbai, as they prepare to fly to the UK for their upcoming tour. India is scheduled to first play the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand from June 18 onwards at the Rose Bowl, Southampton in England.

Then the Indian team will clash with England in a series of five Test matches, which is highly anticipated, given that England had lost the four-Test series 3-1 in India recently and lost out on the spot in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, in quarantine, Virat Kohli engaged in a Q&A session with fans and one of the fans requested Kohli to show a glimpse of his daughter Vamika and asked the meaning of the name. To this, Virat Kohli not only explained the meaning of Vamika but also revealed that he and his wife Anushka Sharma have decided to protect the privacy of their daughter and she won’t be exposed on social media.

“Vamika is Another name for Goddess Durga. No we have decided as a couple to not expose our child to social media before she has an understanding of what social media is and can make her own choice.” Kohli said in his response.

The couple had previously requested the fans and paparazzi to respect their daughter’s privacy and not take photos of her.
