Virat Kohli lit up the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium once again with another blazing half-century, smashing 70 runs off just 42 balls to help Royal Challengers Bengaluru thrash Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs in their IPL 2025 clash on Thursday, April 24.

With a strike rate over 166, Virat Kohli was in full flow, but what caught everyone’s attention was his unusual shot selection, as he had not gotten a single run through the cover region. Instead, the RCB icon dominated the leg side with powerful strokes and sharp placement.

Reacting to the same, former Indian opener and cricket expert Virender Sehwag has noted that the Rajasthan Royals bowlers helped him too. Sehwag has pointed out that most deliveries were aimed at Kohli’s body or at the stumps, giving him the perfect angle to attack on the legside.

His ability to read the game, adapt to conditions, and punish poor deliveries once again proved why he's still one of the most dangerous batters in the IPL. However, Sehwag noted that Kohli was lucky on the few occasions with edges flying past the keeper and fielders.

Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz, “But the situation, he was not even allowed to bowl outside. Mostly, he was attacked in the wicket. When you attack in the wicket, your leg-side options open up. He batted really well and he had a bit of luck.

There was an edge, but he went from the keeper's side, from the slip's side, and from the third man's side. He didn't go into the hands. So, he needed a bit of luck, which he got today. So, I think the bowling was very straight. It was on his feet. So, that's why there were no runs in the direction of the covers.”

Virat Kohli's stunning fitness on focus in Bengaluru

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli's stunning fitness and intensity left even Virender Sehwag in awe during his blistering knock against the Rajasthan Royals in Bengaluru. Out of his 70 runs, 44 came from boundaries, meaning he ran 26 runs between the wickets.

But the way the former RCB skipper was pushing his batting partner, Devdutt Padikkal, who is 12-13 years younger than him, for those quick singles and doubles against the Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium left many stunned yet impressed.

Sehwag was just flat on Kohli’s incredible stamina, joking that the former India captain runs like a Ferrari filled with premium fuel. The legendary opener highlighted Kohli’s energy, pace, and hunger, making it feel like the RCB star was operating on high-octane fuel.

Virender Sehwag was left speechless by Virat Kohli's fitness

The cricket pundit signed off by saying, “He is very fit. If you compare him to any youngster, he is fit in comparison to them. And why not? He has his own runs. So, he knows that he has hit the gap. Why does he run fast? It feels like he has drunk petrol. He puts petrol in the Ferrari. He puts 91 octane petrol in the Ferrari and he drinks that and runs fast like a Ferrari.”

Notably, Kohli is currently the second leading run-scorer in the ongoing IPL 2025 with 392 runs in 9 games for the RCB so far. He will be next seen in action against Delhi Capitals on April 27.
