Vistara Airlines came up with a sweet gesture for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma when team India reached India after the T20 World Cup success. Team India's victory party will now continue in Mumbai after their short stay in New Delhi. The victorious team finally landed in the country on Thursday (July 4) after the victory in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

While the Indian team was scheduled to leave Barbados on Monday itself, their departure was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. They managed to leave the island nation finally on Wednesday (July 3) and landed at the IGI Airport in New Delhi in the early hours of Thursday. And the celebrations began as soon as they set foot outside the airport.

A large gathering of fans was waiting outside the airport to welcome the heroes. The players also acknowledged the support from the fans as Rohit Sharma was seen raising the trophy before boarding the bus while Virat Kohli gave a thumbs up. Team India went to the ITC Maurya Hotel from the airport and left for the Prime Minister's residence soon. The players and the support staff met PM Narendra Modi.

Soon after the meeting, the Indian team is scheduled to leave for Mumbai for further celebration. They will be leaving Delhi on a Vistara flight and the airlines have come up with a special gesture for batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The code of the flight is UK1845 and contains the jersey number of Rohit as well as Kohli.

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have announced their retirement from the T20Is already. They brought down the curtains on their T20I career soon after the win in the final of the T20 World Cup last week. Virat Kohli announced his decision at the post-match presentation ceremony while Rohit announced his during the press conference.

Celebrations to continue in Mumbai for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli alongside team India

After the short stay in New Delhi, Team India will be landing in Mumbai in the evening and will celebrate the World Cup triumph with the fans. The team will be taking part in a victory march in Mumbai.

There will be an open-top bus parade from the Air India Building at Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium. The BCCI will also felicitate the team at the stadium.

The victory in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup has ended India's long wait for a World Cup. The Men in Blue had not won the World Cup in any format since 2011. India ended their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 without losing a single game.

As the victorious team will be busy celebrating the World Cup triumph in Mumbai, a second-string Indian team is currently in Zimbabwe preparing for the upcoming five-match series. The series is scheduled to be played from July 6 to 14 in Harare.
